Somatic Dance

Somatic Dance, in the form of The Somatic Activated Healing (SAH) Method, is a holistic healing practice that integrates movement, breathwork, mantra, and meditation to help individuals release unresolved emotions and trauma stored in the body. Developed by Sah D’Simone, the method is rooted in neuroscience, ancient spiritual practices, and somatic psychology.

What Is the SAH Method/Somatic Dance?

The SAH Method combines the following key elements:

  1. Somatic Movement: Dynamic, intentional movements that activate the body’s emotional memory and help release stuck energy.

  2. Breathwork: Rhythmic and controlled breathing patterns to regulate the nervous system and access deeper emotional states.

  3. Mantra: Sounds, chants, or screams to liberate repressed feelings and energy from the body.

  4. Meditation and Stillness: To integrate the release and promote inner peace, clarity, and mindfulness.

Together, these components activate the body’s natural ability to process and let go of pain, grief, shame, fear, and other deeply held emotions.

How It Helps with Unresolved Emotions

Unresolved emotions often get trapped in the body—especially when traumatic or overwhelming experiences weren’t fully processed. The SAH Method helps in the following ways:

  • Releases tension from the nervous system caused by repressed emotions.

  • Bypasses intellectual defenses, helping you feel and express what words can’t reach.

  • Regulates emotional responses by calming the fight/flight/freeze reaction in the brain.

  • Reconnects you to your body, fostering a sense of safety and embodiment.

  • Creates space for joy, clarity, and empowerment by clearing emotional clutter.

Who Is It For?

  • People carrying trauma, stress, or emotional pain they can’t seem to shake

  • Those who feel disconnected from their bodies or emotions

  • Anyone looking for a non-verbal, experiential approach to healing

In short, the SAH Method is a powerful, body-based healing practice that helps people feel, move through, and release emotions that talk therapy alone might not fully access.
