Dr. Kerr’s Story

I struggled with painful, debilitating periods for most of my high school and college years. I was prescribed oral contraception pills as a “corrective” measure (I would still miss days due to pain) and developed migraine headaches as a consequence. I knew there had to be a better way to improve these monthly symptoms. I also knew the pill was not correcting any underlying issue, only masking the symptoms temporarily, and worse putting me at risk for stroke.

After completing my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Cornell University, I wanted to pursue a career focused on health and wellness. I also wanted that career to be as naturally oriented as possible; it just resonated with me on a level I could not explain. I stumbled upon Naturopathic Medicine while investigating my graduate school options, and fell in love with the foundational tenets of the profession.

Finding naturopathic medicine led me to break from the traditional ideas I was brought-up with surrounding medicine. People questioned why I would pursue an unknown profession. Most didn’t understand. But this was my journey to explore. I was fascinated that there was an entire career that works with the body to HEAL it, instead of masking and palliating symptoms with substances that often led to worse symptoms/side effects.

Following my new found passion, I graduated with a doctorate from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. I was the recipient of the Clinical Excellence award in my graduating class. I then graduated a year later with a master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute. I was the recipient of the Golden Needle award at that time. Both awards are given to the top graduate with outstanding clinical application and patient care.

A master’s degree in Acupuncture was never my intent upon going to UBCNM for my doctorate. I was curious about acupuncture during my first semester, and after my debilitating period pain was resolved after only TWO acupuncture treatments, I had to have this modality in my repertoire.

So here I am, a licensed naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist in the state of Connecticut with 10+ years experience treating women’s health concerns. My personal struggles with fertility, and no explanation, guidance or options given from mainstream medical professionals, paved the road to a new passion deep inside me-Natural Fertility. Knowing there are options available, being committed to getting those therapies out for all to learn, and my desire to help couples struggling to conceive both naturally and with failed rounds of IVF and IUIs, led me to opening Fertility Oasis.

I look forward to working with you on your journey to parenthood. It may seem far off or an impossibility at this time, but I will work my best to give you the advice, guidance and treatment options that best fit your INDIVIDUAL circumstance.

Best In Health!
